Start with entry and clearances

A walk-in shower can mean different things to different people. Explain whether your priority is easier entry, more room, a different enclosure, or replacing a tub. Consider the doorway and the rest of the bathroom as well as the shower itself. A particular product or threshold style does not automatically establish accessibility.

Treat water management as part of the scope

The base, walls, waterproofing, drainage, enclosure, and transitions all contribute to the finished shower. Ask which system is proposed and what is included behind the visible tile. Existing conditions and product requirements need to be addressed before the finish pattern is the main focus.

Choose details you want to live with

Storage niches, seating, fixture locations, tile size, and glass can change cleaning and daily use. Bring examples, but also explain what frustrates you about the current shower. A design that suits a photograph may not suit the dimensions or routine of your bathroom.
